According to the humoral theory, an excess or deficiency of any of the four bodily fluids present in a person, known as humors, have a direct influence on his temperament. What is associated with black bile is, in fact, the melancholic temperament. The latter, understood as sublimation and profound acceptance of a subtle but gloomy state of sadness, is undoubtedly the feeling that accompanies all of El Nigro's artistic production. Defined as elegant, suggestive, poetic, evocative, it contains and recalls that imagination that has its roots in folklore and crosses Victorian Gothic literature.
